Barn Swallows’ Habitat Compensation
We have built a new habitat for our feathered friends at Ontario Place! As a new addition to the waterfront, three wooden nesting structures have been installed in Trillium Park for barn swallows. These new structures will provide housing for up to 40 nests. There are currently 30 nests in-place. To ensure compatibility with Trillium Park, the nesting structures were designed with input from LANDinc, the design team responsible for Trillium Park as well as the future public space at Ontario Place.
Tri-lingual interpretive signage has been installed on site to explain the function of the nesting structures.
