Construction Restoration at the Pods & Cinesphere
As part of the construction happening on site, repairs are being made to the iconic Cinesphere and elevated Pods complex. Work is being done to prevent further deterioration of these heritage structures, including exterior repairs to the roofs, cladding, windows, cable system and exterior lighting. The Province is preserving the heritage features of the Cinesphere and Pod complex and is working with independent heritage experts and experienced construction managers to help ensure any repairs protect these important heritage features.
A crane to support the repair work was installed on site in October 2022, to allow work on the elevated Pods to start. Beginning in December 2022, scaffolding was erected on the Cinesphere to replace its outer layer. Repair work commenced on site in March 2022 and will continue until early 2024.
